Thursday’s decision came over bipartisan calls to cancel the vote
Federal regulators on Thursday voted to repeal Obama-era net neutrality rules for internet traffic in a major victory for telecommunications companies and another milestone for the Republican deregulation push under President Trump.

With the FCC dismantling the rules that safeguard an open internet, rural and low-income consumers are newly vulnerable to a lack of access.

In a 3-to-2 vote along party lines, the agency scrapped Obama-era rules meant to protect an open internet.

The FCC on Tuesday finally rolled out its plan to kill off net neutrality. There’s a strong chance that doing so will screw over millions of American consumers and lead to a rise in online censorship across the US.

GOP bill would outlaw blocking and throttling but give major concession to ISPs.

A lot of Americans hate the FCC right now, and the midterms are coming.

The fight is coming to the courts, to Congress, and even to the 2018 election.
